Loc Hairstyle tutorial: Curls using "Loc Knots"

Thanks to Chescaloc's you tube video on how to do loc knots I have a new hair style:-)))  I primarily wear my locs straight. However, as the weather changes I am looking for a new hair style. I think this may be it.  Maybe I will add some loc jewelry that I seen while visiting the video loctician's blog. Oh the infinite opportunities!!

Stuff People Say To Natural Girls & Behind Their Backs!

I love this video!! I can relate to this video. My mindset years ago before I was team natural may have thought some of these same things about others back in my misinformed days on black natural hair. And I am sure some men and women have said some of these same comments about me behind my back. Anywho watch and have a good laugh and oh yeah make sure you take notes so you know what not to say to a natural whether they have locks, twist, or a teeny weeny afro. Enjoy!!!

Back in Twenty Twelve!!!

I have been gone for awhile I'm back!! Let's see my hair has been through a transition. My permed ends were colored with a burnt red/orange in the summer. Then I had my permed ends chopped off 2 weeks ago YAY!!! I am going to Puerto Rico this month and would really like to color my hair with a jet black color. Any suggestions on brands would be appreciated!

Loc' d and Loaded in 2011

I have not been on here in ages! Sorry to abandon the few folks that were following me. However, I have been having the time of my life and enjoying my beautiful family. When I initially got my sisterlocks installed, I was approx. 1 month preggos...I delivered my 2nd baby boy April 2, 2010 and my oldest son is now in 1st grade! I am so blessed to have such a loving and supportive husband who also my best friend.

My sisterlocs are almost 1 year and 5 months old and I fall in love with them everyday. This journey is full of many surprises. I have gotten so many compliments, stares and I love being %100 natural. Here's a recent pic...

I am trying to think of some new hair styles. I really want to dye my locs a pretty auburn/red hue however my hair is finally at a time of my life where it is really shooting out! I am afraid that if I dyed my hair or had it professionally dyed there will be some breakage. So for now I am just pondering if it is worth it? Until then I will just try to experiment with other styles. I will be trying a curl set with pipe cleaners soon and we will hope for cute little ringlets. A couple of more pics...and I better call it a nite! Glad to be back!

It's Official- I am rocking my Sisterlocks!!!!

On August 29, 2009 my baby Sisterlocks were born! My day started with washing my hair at 8am! Here are a few before pics

At 9am I arrived at my loctician's house and he said my hair was too straight because of me hand blow drying it so he rewashed my hair, then I sat under the dryer so it could be more coarse. I officially got my 1st lock at 10:15am and my last lock at 12:05am so it took aprrox. 15 hours total, in a 1 day session. My locks are both small and medium. I have approx. 450-500 sisterlocks. One day I will count when I am bored...lol I will return in 6 weeks for my 1st wash and retightening session (which will last 1-1.5 hours)! I sat in the chair with a lunch and dinner break for about 15hours and good thing I only have to do it once! Yay! My loctitian applied a setting mousse and rolled up my locks and I sat under the dryer for 30 minutes. Now I am sporting a small curly fro. My hair is 5-8 inches long but appears much shorter now bc of my curls. With a cute headband and pair of earrings this a.m. I was good to go! I am in an awkward stage right now but look forward to the transformation my hair will take. My son loves the style and they can't keep from touching mommy's new hair! I made a trip to Sally's to get a few essentials: a silk scarf wrap, soft bendable rollers, a shower cap, spray bottle for misting my hair before rolling, bobby pins (for styling)and some cute earrings! Now I plan to go through my hair stuff and donate straightening combs, brushes, combs, etc! But I am keeping my Chi flatirons bc Sisterlocks are small enough to curl! Here are some pics below of Day 1...I can't wait to play around with so many styling options!
